Hello! Today we are going to look at English expressions.
I wanted to start with an expression that catches people’s attention because it is very strange.
“It’s raining cats and dogs”
Of course that doesn’t mean it is literarilly raining cats and dogs, that would be strange, it means it is pouring (meaning a lot) with rain.
No one knows where this expression comes from, some think it comes from norse mythology. The most likely origin is that in ancient times when it rained a lot the dead bodies of animals (of which the most common were cats and dogs) were washed down the streets, not a nice thought, right?
Well that’s all for now.
See you soon.
